Worldwide Leaders Congratulate Uruguay’s President-elect Yamandu Orsi

Presidents, Chiefs of Government and other worldwide leaders congratulated Broad Front’s Yamandu Orsi for his victory on Sunday presidential elections.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva congratulated Orsi and “the Uruguayan people for holding democratic and peaceful elections” as well as his “friend Pepe Mujica”. Silva also stressed that it is a “victory for all of Latin America and the Caribbean” and both countries “will continue to work together” in the Mercosur trade bloc and other fora in favor of “just and sustainable development, peace, and regional integration.”
Also in South America the Paraguayan president Santiago Peña, today communicated with the candidate of the Frente Amplio uruguayo “to express the commitment of Paraguay to continue collaborating in the benefit of our nations” and to the people of the Eastern Republic by “His massive turnout in this Sunday’s presidential election.”
Claudia Sheinbaum, the Mexican president also sent her congratulations to Orsi. She said in a post in X that Broad Front “returns to govern by the will of the Uruguayan people, who once again demonstrate their democratic and progressive vocation.”
“We celebrate the victory of Yomandú Orsi and the Frente Amplio in our sister country, Uruguay. The winds of progressivism are blowing again in the Great Homeland, revitalizing our revolutionary spirit to achieve a world with social justice. We will never again be the backyard of any empire,” said for his part the indigenous leader and Bolivia’s former President Evo Morales in X.
Chilean president said he called Orsi to congratulate him. The Chilean head of state added they talked “about how to move forward together, as sister countries, in justice and unity. From Chile, all the best on this new path to Yamandú and to the vice president, Carolina Cosse!
“A big Bolivarian hug to the Broad Front and our Uruguayan brothers!” wished to Orsi the Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro, at the time he called Orsi to move towards building a respectful and positive relationship of cooperation and shared support between our countries.
